I'm fundraising for MATES in Construction

I am excited to announce that throughout April, I will be taking on the physical and fundraising challenge of the MATES Long Lap 2026.

You are not alone is something I firmly believe in when it comes to mental health. That is why I will not be taking this challenge on alone.

By igniting hope for our mates, we make the world a better place. We feel supporting 'MATES Long Lap' is important not only for the Construction community, but also for everyone's well-being.

There will be regular updates throughout the month to keep you all up to date on the Long Lap progress. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a significant difference and help MATES continue their crucial work.

Thank you for joining us and MATES on this journey towards a healthier and more aware community.

Long lap

Monday 2nd Mar

If you own a construction business or run a crew, you know the pressure.

Margins are tight. Deadlines are tighter. Weather delays, client expectations, staffing issues, cash flow, no work, too much work, it never really stops. Pressure is everywhere. We carry responsibility not just for projects, but for people. Families rely on the wages we generate.

But there’s something else happening in our industry that we can’t afford to ignore.

Construction has one of the highest suicide rates of any profession. Behind the resilience, the banter, and the “she’ll be right” attitude, too many of our mates are struggling. And too often, we don’t see it until it’s too late.

That hits close to home for me.

That’s why I’m taking on A Long Lap for Mates in Construction to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention initiatives specifically supporting our industry. This isn’t about fitness or ticking off a challenge. It’s about standing up for the people who show up for us every day on site.

As business owners and subcontractors, we set the tone. We shape the culture. When we prioritise mental health, when we fund the right support systems, when we openly back initiatives like this, it gives people an opportunity to speak up.

Sponsor the lap. Share it with your team. Start a toolbox talk about it. Show your crew that their wellbeing matters as much as the work itself.
