100% of funds raised will go to MATES in Construction NZ.

How are the funds used?

Fundraising is an essential part of funding MATES so we can put more boots on the ground, improving mental health and preventing suicide in our industry.

How do I qualify for a reward?

This year, we have introduced Long Lap Fundraising Rewards.
  • be one of the first 250 Long Lappers to raise $100 or more to receive exclusive Long Lap 2026 socks.
  • be one of the first 125 to raise $250 or more for a Long Lap 2026 drink bottle.
  • be one of the first 75 to raise $500 or more for a Long Lap 2026 cap
  • every Long Lapper who raises $1000 or more goes into the draw to win an epic Long Lap prize pack!

    *Only funds raised during 2026 Long Lap go towards Fundraising Rewards.

You can sign up and participate in the event, donate directly, or support participants by spreading awareness and encouraging others to contribute.

How do I promote my fundraising page?

Share your page via email, social media, or in-person conversations. Tell your story and explain how MATES’ work aligns with your values to inspire support. 

What do I need to participate in the Long Lap?

Apart from registering, you’ll need enthusiasm, a willingness to spread awareness, and a commitment to raising funds for MATES.

What is MATES Long Lap?

When is it?

MATES Long Lap is held during the full month of April to raise awareness about mental health and suicide in our industry.

Who can join the event?

This is a virtual event so all our mates across New Zealand can join in - walk, run, ride, swim or wheel – choose what you do best.

What is the challenge?

Our goal is to complete five laps of the distance up and down New Zealand of 15,000kms totalling 75,000 km!

Can I register a team?

Yes, you can either set up a team or join a team.

Is there a registration fee this year?

The registration fee for the MATES Long Lap 2026 is $0! We want Long Lap 2026 to be as inclusive as possible, so we've lowered the entry fee to zero.

Do I have to MOVE in the Long Lap to fundraise?

We encourage people to be physically active as this does aid mental well-being. However, you can still fundraise even if you’re not directly contributing to the KMs in the event.

Are donations tax deductable?

Yes, all donations of $5 or more are tax-deductible in New Zealand. Donors will receive a receipt via email.

Can I update my fundraising page after I’ve created it?

add remove

Yes, you can edit your page anytime to update your goal, add photos, or post updates for your supporters.

What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising target?

add remove

Every dollar raised counts, so don’t worry if you don’t meet your goal. Your efforts will still make a meaningful impact.
